Facu Regalia to skip GP2
event at Silverstone
After technical problems
affecting Facu Regaliaīs car
in the first four meetings,
coupled with a lack of
funding, Argentinaīs racer
will skip next GP2 round
taking place at Silverstone
next weekend.
After the Austrian event,
where the goals were not met
again, Facu Regalia held a
meeting with Franz Hilmer
and the Argentine gave him
the reasons for not
competing with Hilmer
Motorsport anymore.
In the next few hours
Regalia will draw up his
racing program with his
working team, exploring
different options to
continue his racing career.
It should be noted that it
doesnīt change his position
as a member in the Driver
Development Programme of the
Sahara Force India Formula 1
Team.
Facu Regalia: On Sunday,
after our second race in
Austria, I made the decision
to stop competing with the
team. I spoke to Franz
Hilmer and I gave him a
number of reasons: the team
wasnīt able to have a
competitive car, as I had
set-up problems in Bahrain,
Spain and Austria, and
engine issues throughout the
season, even in Monaco,
despite there it didnīt play
an important part. On the
other hand, the lack of
financial support has played
a significant role as well,
because otherwise I would
have joined DAMS, Racing
Engineering, ART or Campos
Racing. The solution
involves finding a new team,
but I need that support
which I havenīt got so far
with the exception of YPF,
Varlion and a private
Argentine entrepreneur. I
would like to clear my
professional relationship
with SFIF1 doesnīt have to
change, because the team isnīt
directly involved in the
technical part. What I know
is that, with my results in
the championship so far, my
presence in this Driver
Development Programme was
over as of September due to
lack of results. Personally
I need a car to fight for
top-places, as I proved last
year, and remain intact my
chances to reach the
pinnacle of motorsport:
Formula 1. At this point Iīm
evaluating proposals
received to race in the
Formula E but calmly, just
after dealing with my
current situation in the GP2
Series. I wish to thank YPF
and Varlion for their
support and confidence. |
